Yoga Focus
Not only during yoga class but in our every day lives there are a variety of sounds and we choose what we focus on. I call this your Yoga Soundtrack. It's what you tune into during class as well as your daily life. Our ultimate goal is to practice our yoga in all aspects of our lives, not just in class. And, just by being aware of your "Yoga Soundtrack" it is a step in the right direction. It's Ok if you allow that person next to you talking too loud annoy you; or the sounds of construction get under your skin. Being aware of it is the first step. The second step is developing ways to change your focus within, or your Yoga Focus. Your Yoga Focus brings you to a place where there is even-ness, calm and the feelings of annoyance, anger, frustration, etc., can be released. How do we get there?
1. Awareness -- noticing what you are tuning into and how it makes you feel.
2. Question Why -- why is this sound annoying or soothing.
3. Letting go -- Whether a sound is soothing or annoying, our yoga goal is to remain even. If a sound is soothing, tune in acknowledge the feeling and then allow it to be released. If a sound is annoying, tune in acknowledge the feeling and allow it to be released.

How do you release it? There are many ways to accomplish this and most times takes practice and repetition. Some examples are affirmation statements; meditation; or taking a deep breath -- our breath is a most powerful tool to help us reset and let go.

Here are some exercises to help you discover what your Yoga Soundtrack is and find your Yoga Focus.
Watch any or all of these videos in our Continuing Education playlist. Notice what you tune into. How does it make you feel?
Practice along one of our podcasts, which have a variety of fun sounds along with class. Podcasts are on the top menu bar. Here is one link just for quick reference: https://bendingtreeyogahealing.com/podcasts/classes-gentle-yoga
See what you tune into. Is anything distracting? Why?
